The overall theme:
The themes that I am using in my artwork is technicism, life, knowledge, creativity etc, although me and Patsy are still thinking of themes for the artwork.
The deign/look of your music video:
At the moment, me and Patsy haven't discussed the design or look of our music video but from looking at the film style of film noir from a film such as Blade Runner (directed by Ridley Scott, 1982 ) I have been influenced by this type of film making because of how film noir film style has been credited with using a lot of low key lighting which is used to portray certain scenes as claustrophobic and threatening which is used through black and white or coloring of the scenes . I have also been influenced by the characterization used in film noir films such as the Godfather(Coppola,1972), Vertigo(Hitchcock, 1958) or Blade Runner which contain males which are dominated by the females and seen as weak. Whereas the women are seen as dominant, manipulative, seductive and female fatales.I also like how the plots are able to be affected by narrtive devices such as narration or flashbacks to manipulate time and space and how it deals with themes such as morality, redemption etc. So I guess what I'm saying is that I would like the video to be set in an urban area if possible with a lot of low key lighting used and black and white used to manipulate the thoughts of the audience and color to show a insightful but threatening image of society.
Artwork, that I have designed:
The main reasons why I constructed these pieces of artwork in this manner, is to give people ideas of the music genres that I wished to portray through the images or background such as portraying new wave music as futuristic which is portrayed through the robot and the influence that American bands have obtained from watching or listening to other genres of music which later evolved into new wave music. For the second artwork the artwork was mainly about new wave music whereas the 1st piece of artwork was based on music genres such as alternative rock and rock. The main influences for these pieces of artwork came from artwork from bands such as the Killers album "Day and Age" and the "Hot Fuss" album, the 2nd piece of artwork was also influenced by Oasis' artwork of their DVD cover of "Don't Slow Me Down". When it came to designing these pieces of artwork I would say that I tries to incorporate some sort of color schemes but I mainly went with silhouettes as they portray themes such as lust, desire, curiosity, voyeurism etc.
